Summers are here and this the time when sunscreen shopping is at its peak. Although as dermatologists suggest, sunscreens should be used in every season because summers or not sun is there. But as this is the season when the sunscreens are shopped with all force, here’s my take on the sunscreen I have been using for past one year, the lotus safe sun matte gel sunscreen.
ABOUT THE BRAND AND PRODUCT
Lotus Herbals is a big name in the market and are one of the most successful brands lately. Although they claim to be ‘herbal’, the brand isn’t 100% herbal. The sunscreen I bought is called ‘lotus herbals safe sun UV screen matte gel sunscreen.’ The product comes in a tube like packaging and is orange in colour. The packaging is fair and is travel-friendly. The sunscreen is translucent white in colour and has a gel consistency as a mention. The sunscreen has SPF 50 UVB and PA+++ UVA.
What does the product claim?
At the back of the product: an innovative sunblock which is totally non-oily and provides a fresh and clean finish to the face, neck and hand. It protects against all forms of sun-induced damage like skin tan, sunburn, premature ageing and skin cancer.
Pricing: I bought this sunscreen from Amazon.in for 315 rs (50 g)
Shelf life- 3 years.
I have combination type of skin and finding a sunscreen that is great for my skin is hard. I was looking for something which controls the oiliness I face in summers and then I found this. I already tried the tinted version of the same line which was my favourite but I wanted to try this as this came in a gel base. Being gel based, this suits perfectly to combination and oily skin types is a lightweight sunscreen and get quickly absorbed into the skin. I love the way this is non-tinted and doesn’t have any added colours to it. Because of being non-tinted it does makes a great base for makeup. Since the day I started using the sunscreen, I haven’t found extra oiliness on my face. Also, I haven’t had any breakouts or side effects of the product until now. The only drawback in this product is that even when the brand has the tag of ‘herbal’ it contains a lot of chemicals including parabens. Also, it is on a pricier side as compared to another brand sunscreen with the same ingredient list.

If you belong to oily and combination skin family, this is a must you cannot just skip this. The gel-based formula perfectly suits the oily skin and regulates the oiliness. If you have normal and dry skin, this product isn’t for you as it may dry your skin out.
