Summer is here! Which means three things: heat, sweat and oil. I have combination skin, which means it is oily during Summers and dry during Winters. I already have a lot of base makeup that tackles the sweat problem, but I hadn’t yet found that perfect foundation which balances the annoying as hell shine problem that Summer brings. Hence, it made perfect sense to me to give the Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation Stick a try.
Before I get into whether or not the product stands true to it claims let’s have a little talk about the product itself.
Shine-Free + Balance® Stick Foundation face makeup. Oil-absorbing powder foundation stick delivers a natural matte finish for smooth and even-looking skin.
This lightweight gel foundation has an exclusive anti-shine powder core that instantly dissolves excess oil. Pores look minimized and skin stays shine-free for ten hours. This oil-absorbing foundation stick goes on creamy and blends into a natural matte finish.
Suitable for sensitive skin.
Price: INR 550 for 9g
Shades: All in all, there are eight shades to choose from which I think is pretty great at this price. Since I use the Toffee 330 shade of Maybelline Fit Me Liquid Foundation, I bought the stick in the same shade. The foundation has a very yellow undertone which the stick does not and that’s a good thing cause I don’t need to colour correct then. The eight shades are as follows:
CLASSIC IVORY 120
BUFF BEIGE 130
NATURAL BEIGE 220
PURE BEIGE 235
The product comes in a black, plastic, twist-up tube. Packaging is decent, nothing fancy. The stick has an outer pigmented core and an inner gel core which helps in shine control.
My take on the product:
Since I was absolutely in love with the Fit Me liquid foundation, I had high hopes for the stick foundation as well. When I used it for the first time, I was pretty impressed. On application, the product feels very smooth and creamy. It is easily blendable and the shade was perfect for my skin. The foundation is lightweight and gives light coverage. However, if you need more coverage, you can definitely go for two or more coats as it does not look cakey. The finish looked really natural and since it is reasonably priced, it is a great choice for an everyday foundation.
As per the oil control, when I first applied it, I was in an airconditioned room all day and hadn’t stepped outside in the sun or experienced any sort of sweating, so the oil secretion did not occur at all. Because of which my skin started to feel a little dry after about three hours. So if you have dry skin or combination skin and majority of your day involves sitting comfortably in an airconditioned room, I’d suggest you use a heavy base moisturizer before putting on this foundation. The next time I used this foundation was a pretty active day. I honestly felt that the oil problem was being tackled by the foundation but for better results I always suggest using compact powder on top.
At INR 550, I’d say the Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation Stick is a great pick. You can definitely give it a try. I am sure you’ll be satisfied.
